Richard Bulman: Pastels

"The desire to create realistic images of the human form has always driven my development as an artist. Chalk pastel captures the spontaneity and mood of the models for me. Through many years of studying technique, life drawing, and anatomy I have developed a stylistic approach that produces pieces with a strong realism and a deep emotional content. I strongly believe that the human form is one of nature's greatest expressions and I continue to find it the most enjoyable and challenging subject.''

This Washington State based artist has mastered a variety of artistic media in pursuing his visions, including painting, drawing, and printmaking. Bulman's work has been shown in numerous venues over the past couple of decades, is featured in public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad, and has also graced several book covers. The wonderful pastel drawings presented here are not only beautifully done but have a little bit of magic in them as well.
