RENE CAPONE: NEW CONNECTIONS René Capone started making art at a young age, enjoying the attention from his classmates. "It was in later in life that I realized the full potential of creating art: the realization that expression was freedom. Art was a place where one could say, do or believe in my own way. I had a fascination for the physiological aspect of the male figure in artwork and its affect on viewers. The figure to me represented a look inside the mind." René studied fine arts at the Parsons School of Design in New York, and while New York fed his appetite for excitement and artistic life, his later move to San Francisco gave him a life change and the most creative energy. René Capone has exhibited in New York City, Albany NY, San Francisco, and elsewhere. His work has been published in many national magazines and he has been featured in Blue magazine. He has been profiled in San Francisco newspapers as a participant in Open Studio weekend, and he is considered one of the most popular, talented, and collected young artists in the Bay Area, and increasingly, on a national scale. He has more recently opened his own gallery in SF, featuring his work and the work of other artists. His abundant talent, with his integration of the people, the nude, color, and imagination, has created these fanciful, sometimes mysterious, and beautiful works. "I look at making art like telling stories. The greatest themes in life are explored through art. Love, hate, jealousy, fear, anger, passion and anything else you can imagine. I believe an artist's job is to tell these stories. Stylistically combining imagery, figure, landscape, or abstract elements I create the scenes and stories. Ideas run strong in my works but color is often the voice. I strive to create a sense of mystery and surrealism. My goal is to create honestly and ask others to interpret for themselves. Connection is the most important aspect of making art, and as my work has found its way into homes and people's lives, I realize how if I share a little of myself, people will respond. Communication is to exist, and this is why I make art." (click
