from Hawaii.. MEN OF PARADISE! In 1960, Robert Kelsey moved to Hawaii and started a very diverse life. He became a picture framer, exhibited his own paintings and was also one of the youngest disk jockeys in the U.S. In 1969, Robert moved to Lahaina, on the island of Maui. He exhibited widely there and in 1976 he was the first artist to have an exhibition aboard the Queen Elizabeth II for the ship’s maiden voyage to the Caribbean. During this time, Robert began another career as a newspaperman - columnist , editor, and publisher. He opened his own art gallery, showcasing his own paintings as well as other Maui artists. Also starting a publishing company, becoming a television talk show host and radio commentator, Robert was referred to as "The busiest man on Maui." Though his life has had many interesting twists, he says that art has always remained his one passion in life. "It is who I am and what I am." Robert makes his drawings from life and from a lifetime of photos of men of the Hawaiian islands. He applies his own style to give a wonderfully creative simplicity to his male figurative work. For
